If you spent too much time online, you&#8217;re highly likely to develop <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/alzheimers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alzheimer&#8217;s<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The solution?<\/p>\n<p>Read physical books <strong><em>without<\/em><\/strong> a smart phone in sight to interrupt you. I personally work to get in at least 2-3 hours on uninterrupted reading every day.<\/p>\n<p>Language learning has been shown to help preserve cognitive skills in later life. And where focus goes, memory flows.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to finding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/places-to-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">places where you can study<\/a> without interruption, use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/chunking-memory-strategy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chunking<\/a> to break big topics down.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes people see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/how-to-become-a-polymath\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polymathic learners<\/a> and build illusions in their minds about how they learn so much.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, there are some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/polymath-personality-traits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">polymathic personality traits<\/a> that might help them naturally. But overall, the true talent they have involves breaking complex tasks down into smaller pieces. Then, whenever required, they use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/deliberate-practice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deliberate practice<\/a>, which is a specific learning approach anyone can use.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Six: Substance Consumption<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Whether it&#8217;s drinking too much or feeling the effects of prescription medication, you could be forgetting things due to what you&#8217;re consuming.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes you can ask a doctor for alternative medication that won&#8217;t affect your memory so much. Whether it&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/remember-names\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remembering names<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/how-to-memorize-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">numbers related to math<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/memory-palace-for-programming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">computer programming<\/a>, there are specific mnemonic devices that will help.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>One: Get More Social Interaction<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Many people suffer memory issues because they don&#8217;t speak with enough people often enough.<\/p>\n<p>Scientists have linked what they call &#8220;social cognition&#8221; to memory and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC7659449\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the evidence is clear<\/a>. People who socialize more tend to have better memory skills.<\/p>\n<p>Personally, I&#8217;m a bit isolated where I live at the moment. But I regularly interview people and hold Zoom calls for people in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/masterclass\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Magnetic Memory Method Masterclass<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I have an even more ambitious project I&#8217;m working on for increasing my social activity. If you get nothing, repeat the process.<\/p>\n<p>The point is that you&#8217;re challenging your mind.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re not ready for this challenge, as an alternative, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/memory-improvement-tips-from-dr-gary-small\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Gary Small<\/a> has suggested one of my favorite passive memory exercises. It&#8217;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.magneticmemorymethod.com\/brain-exercises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">simple brain boosting routine<\/a> that works like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Notice four details of a person you see<\/li>\n<li>Let an hour pass<\/li>\n<li>Practice recalling those four details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The reason this kind of exercise is called &#8220;passive&#8221; reflects that you&#8217;re not using any kind of memory technique. But that doesn&#8217;t mean you shouldn&#8217;t use mnemonics. It will increase your visualization skills too.
